Welcome to the help centre. Here you'll find the answers to some frequently asked questions.
You don't need to fast or do anything else before you collect your sample. But being hydrated does make the fingerprick collection easier so we recommend that you drink at least 2 glasses of water about 30 minutes before collecting. It's also a great idea to warm your hands thoroughly before you prick your finger - you can do this by running your hands under warm water, rubbing them together or doing some exercise for a few minutes - walking, jumping... it's up to you!
Your collection kit has a unique code on it that allows us to identify it. When you activate your kit, you are linking your details with that unique code so we can identify the kit when it arrives back at the laboratory. You'll find your activation card as soon as you open your kit and it will explain how to perform the activation. It's really simple and should only take a few minutes.
Once you send your kit back to the laboratory in the included reply paid mailer, it'll take around 5-7 working days before your report will be ready.
Our kits use patented collection technology from Trajan Scientific and Medical that has a 99% collection success rate - from people just like you doing it by themselves at home, for the first time! So relax, you'll do fine - and remember, if you have any questions we'll be there to help.
(The 99% acceptance rate is based on the NIH study study size n=9029, sampling failure n=61, Sadtler, K, et al (2021) Mapping a Pandemic: SARS CoV-2 Seropositivity in the United States medRxiv 2021.01.27.21250570)
You'll receive everything you need in your kit to successfully collect your sample. Using a lancet (the same thing a diabetic uses every day to measure their blood sugar levels), you'll prick your finger and then collect the blood sample onto our collection device by following the included instructions. You can watch what a collection looks like here.
You can test at any time of the day and on any day of the month.
Testing AMH while on all types of contraception is medically accepted. It's convenient and if you receive an in-range result you can be confident that you don't have a low ovarian reserve. In some individuals hormonal contraception can temporarily lower AMH levels. So if you decide to test on hormonal contraception (or within 3 months of stopping use) and receive a low result, then you can consider retesting while not affected by hormonal contraception to confirm that your result is in fact low. You can read more about testing on contraception here.
Your Egg Count report card will give you an indication as to how you might respond to assisted reproductive treatments such as egg freezing and IVF and our fertility nurses will be able explain this to you further. They won't be able to discuss the actual treatment specifics, such as cost, so if you're interested in this you should ask for a referral from your Doctor to see a Fertility Specialist.
We can only make one appointment available for every person that receives a low result but if you have started your fertility conversation with us and want to continue it then that's great! We recommend that you download your Health Practitioner Report and see your Health Practitioner who is going to be able to best support you on the next part of your fertility journey. The Health Practitioner Report will give them the context they need to continue the conversation.
You'll meet with one of our team of fertility nurses to discuss your report and they'll be able to answer any questions you might have. Our fertility nurses have experience in some of the biggest fertility institutions in Australia and are trained by our Chief Medical Advisors to make sure you understand your result while feeling supported.
